About History
REM was founded in 1998, beginning with Sunday meetings in the basement of Brother Chen Ruey and Sister Beatrice home, and then soon moving that year to Beall Elementary School in Rockville (and then to Lakelands Park MS in 2010). The focus of REM Chinese congregation was and has remained sharing the gospel with the many mainland Chinese immigrants in Rockville, and particularly visiting scholars and families. The church grew rapidly through regular evangelistic meetings that still continue. Over the years we have seen many Chinese come to faith in the Lord Jesus and be baptized, progressing from skeptics, seekers, new believers, and then growing in faith and knowledge of God and service to Him. God's power and love has blessed us, helping us to grow in number and maturity, blessing us with many families (elders and children) with room for more. We have seen growth in recent years in our English congregation as the youth grow and marry and invite friends. Our English congregation is very diverse.
REM looks to move to our Central Avenue location in the near future, but our mission is unchanged. We desire to see God's people grow in love and truth, sharing God's love and truth with family and friends and community and the world. We desire our church to be a place of worship and grace. We invite you to join us for any of our meetings. Please join us!
